Traton Group: sales revenue 2016-2023, by segment
Between 2016 and 2020, sales revenue steadily increased, with Scania and MAN comprising the largest share of sales revenue for the Traton Group. For Scania, this was between 10.99 and 13.9 billion euros in 2016 and 2019 respectively. Then, in 2020, the group saw a decline in its total sales revenue.
Between 2021 and 2023, Scania was responsible for the greatest share of revenue for the Traton Group, with about 14 billion euros in sales revenue in 2021 and 17.9 billion in 2023. Secondly, MAN, generated about 10.9 billion in 2021 and 14.8 billion in 2023. Finally, Navistar observed the most growth in sales revenue between 2021 and 2023, going from 3.6 billion in 2021 to 11 billion in 2022. Furthermore, Volkswagen Truck and Bus earned the least out of the vehicle brands in both years with 2.1 and 2.5 billion euros respectively. The financial services offered by Traton Group are also included, earning the least in revenue in general.
The brief period of decline in total revenue in 2020 was in the midst of both the COVID-19 pandemic and global semiconductor shortages. It was not only the Traton Group that suffered such losses as the number of cars sold worldwide suffered a decline during that same period.
In 2021, the Traton Group acquired the US commercial vehicle manufacturer Navistar, leaning into a major expansion in the North American market, and leading to increases in sales revenue and operating result.
