Wales' rugby governing body, the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU), carried out over 300 anti-doping tests in the 2022/23 season. 256 of these tests were made outside of competitions, while 78 were carried out during competitions. While this was an increase over the previous two seasons, it was, however, a decrease from 2018/19 and 2019/20, when over 450 tests for performance enhancing drugs were administered in each season.
