Electric vehicles accounted for roughly 10 percent of global light-duty vehicle sales in 2022. Sales are expected to continue accelerating in the coming years, and are on track to reach the 2030 1.5-degrees-Celsius-aligned target of at least 75 percent. Transportation is currently the second-largest source of global carbon dioxide emissions. Transforming the sector is vital if the world is to limit global temperature rise and mitigate the worst impacts of climate change.
