According to a 2023 study in Brazil, just six percent of survey participants who actively engaged in online gambling were unemployed or looking for a job. By contrast, the largest share of respondents were employed, with 43 percent indicating they had a formal employee contract. Alongside individuals who worked for a company as a legal person and those who were working informally, which constituted six and 15 percent of respondents, respectively, the number of online gamblers in Brazil who were employed outnumbered those that were not.
