The performance of hedge funds by investment strategy varied greatly. In 2019, hedge funds following an arbitrage strategy generated net returns of two percent, this was in stark contrast to equity hedge funds, which yielded a net return of almost 24 percent. In 2023, however, there was a smaller spread in the rates of returns generated, with the lowest rate of returns being -1.27 and the highest rate not reaching above eight percent.
