Most consumers in the five countries surveyed perceived European car brands as reliable vehicle marques as of July 2023. Around 56 percent of German respondents found European cars were reliable, the highest share among all surveyed countries. Furthermore, a large share of respondents also considered Japanese car brands as reliable. In contrast, Chinese car brands did not record the same success: 14 percent of German and French consumers would describe these brands as reliable.

Several answers were possible. The data displayed here denotes respondents describing car brands as reliable.
The quota approach was employed to ensure that the sample was representative of gender and age. 3,000 interviews were conducted in France and 800 in each of the other countries.
