Distribution of first-time treated clients for heroin in EU 2013-2022, by use route
Among selected European countries, smoking/inhaling was the main administration route for all clients who were treated for heroin for the first time between 2013 and 2022. The highest rate was observed in 2022, with over 60 percent of first-time treated clients consuming heroin smoking. Conversely, injection as the main method of administration had decreased to more than half of its value from 2013, representing only 18 percent of all first-time treated clients in 2022. This statistic depicts the distribution of first-time treated clients entering treatment for heroin from 2013 to 2022 in Europe, by route of administration.
