As of October 2022, SOCCSKSARGEN registered the largest share of the working children aged five to 17 years old in the Philippines who were engaged in child labor at 12.5 percent. This was followed by Central Visayas which accounted for 10.5 percent of the child laborer population.

Child labor is when children do unsafe work (called hazardous child labor) that is not safe or done in a dangerous environment. This is defined in DOLE Order No. 04 (1999) on "Hazardous work and activities to persons under eighteen (18) years old." It also includes work that lasts more than 40 hours, either at night or all day, by children between 15 and 17 years old. 12A (1) of RA No. 9231).
