According to a survey from 2021, ratings of quality of long term care (LTC) facilities varied with the type (private/government) of facility, and more specifically with the size of the facilities. Respondents who had loved ones in small private LTC homes were more satisfied with the staffing levels, quality of food, and quality of nursing care at the facility, compared to those with loved ones in larger private LTC or governmental LTC residences.

Information on sample: representative randomized sample of 816 Canadian adults who are members of Angus Reid Forum and have a loved one currently living in a long-term care facility or did within the past year.
