The shipment volume of virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and mixed reality (MR) devices in Japan was estimated at 419 thousand in fiscal year 2023. The number of devices was expected to reach more than 1.39 million by fiscal year 2029. While VR devices were estimated to make up the lion's share of the market in fiscal year 2023, AR and MR devices were expected to overtake VR devices in the second half of the 2020s.
