In 2022, more than a third of the energy used for the construction of buildings, their heating and cooling, and for powering household appliances and light bulbs came from electricity. To limit global warming by 1.5 degrees Celsius, this figure should reach 70 percent by 2050. However, projections based on current energy policies show that the electrification rate of buildings will be around 50 percent by that year.
