In 2022, electricity represented 23 percent of the total final energy consumption of industrial activities worldwide. According to the Net Zero Emissions (NZE) scenario, which limits global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius, this figure should more than double by 2050, reaching almost 50 percent. However, it was forecast that the electrification rate of the industrial sector will reach 27 percent by that year if the latest policies are implemented.
