Moreover, the tariff for hepatitis C screening in CHAG hospitals amounted to 11.97 GHS, around one U.S. dollar. These investigation costs have been set since October 2022, and are for the diagnosis, monitoring, and management of the liver disease.

The source notes that the tariff does not include costs of drugs, direct, indirect and overhead costs of pharmacy and any other costs related to drugs/medicines. Included, however, are costs of equipment and consumables used to administer drugs (syringes, syringe pump, infusion burettes, needles, cannula, etc.) as these are consumables used directly in patient care.
