In 2023, retail was the sector with the largest share of IT budgets allocated to cyber security in the United Kingdom and the United States, estimated at around 28 percent. The telecoms and pharmaceuticals sectors followed, with 27 percent of IT budgets allocated to cyber security. Meanwhile, only 18 percent of IT budgets were allocated to cyber security in the energy and utilities sector.
