Most of the heat pumps sold in France in 2023 were air-to-air heat pumps. Air-to-water heat pumps also had a significant market share. Overall, heat pump sales increased considerably in the past years. While there were roughly 570,000 units sold in 2017, that number had increased to 1.2 million by 2023. Geothermal heat pumps were by far the least popular in France.
