Heading into a presidential election year, a December 2023 survey found that a considerable share of U.S. citizens over the age of 65 did not place a lot of trust in the news to accurately report election information. Over one-third of respondents 65 and older reported that they did not trust the news at all regarding election information. Comparatively, around 44 percent of respondents between the ages of 18 and 29 were fairly trusting of news media to report election information.
