Quarterly cost-to-income ratio of banking industry in Greece 2014-2023

The cost-to-income ratio of the banking industry in Greece fluctuated significantly between 2014 and 2023. The high ratio in the second quarter of 2021, at 78.72 percent, points to a time when Greek banks faced difficulties managing their operating costs in relation to their income. Conversely, it experienced a sharp decline to 33.03 percent in the first quarter of 2022, which means increased profitability and lower costs. As of the fourth quarter of 2023, it stood at 36.22 percent.
