According to a survey conducted in May 2023 among employees in Japan who were aware of artificial intelligence (AI), a vast majority of respondents throughout all age groups also knew about or had heard of generative AI. Seven percent of the respondents in their twenties and thirties stated that they know about it to such a degree that they can explain it to others, which was a higher share than among older age cohorts.
