The most popular mode of transport for traveling to work in the United States was by private car in 2023, though this had been on a downward trend. Three-quarters of workers used this mode of transport to arrive at work, while this share had stood at 88 percent in 2019. Public transport, despite a dip during the COVID-19 pandemic, has become more common as a mode of transport for commuting.
