According to a 2023 survey, 33 percent of adults in the United States who spent more than two hours per day on social media reported feeling more helpless or discouraged in the past week, while 28 percent said they felt less helpless or discouraged. Overall, 50 percent of respondents who spent up to two hours per day on social networks did not experience changes in their feelings of helplessness. People in the United States see a connection between using social media and having increased mental health problems.
