Under the IEA's Net Zero Emissions (NZE) by 2050 scenario, natural gas-fired power emissions would fall to roughly 600 MtCO₂ by 2040. This pathway would see natural gas-fired generation peak in the mid-2020s before experiencing a long-term decline.
