According to a 2023 survey on public views on sustainability in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, using low energy lightbulbs and reducing water usage was among the most common steps taken to live a more sustainable lifestyle at about 31 and 30 percent of respondents respectively. Measures requiring low to medium effort were prioritized by respondents.

Survey sample was equally distributed across six MENA countries: Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Qatar, and UAE.
Survey question was as follows: "What steps have you personally taken to live a more sustainable lifestyle?"
