According to a 2023 survey on public views on sustainability in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, 21 percent of respondents were aware of using renewable energy resources as a sustainable practice, however, only nine percent of respondents were concerned with water saving.

Survey sample was equally distributed across six MENA countries: Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Qatar, and UAE.
Survey question was as follows: "Which of the following comes to mind first when hearing the word “Sustainability”?"
