The live-action show Krishi Darshan was the longest running television show in India having aired over 16 thousand episodes since its premiere on January 26, 1967. It was part of a government initiative to broadcast television programs to a wider audience. The next two longest running shows were the music programs Chitrahaar, followed by Rangoli. All three shows were aired on the country's public broadcasting channel, DD National.
