Between 2009 and 2021, the number of children under five years old treated for diarrheic infections in Peru decreased by half from approximately 570 thousand cases to approximately one 260 thousand cases. Diarrheic infections can last for several days and deprive the body of the water and salts it requires to survive. During the last year depicted, children aged 6 to 11 months old were the age category of under five year olds with the highest share of symptoms of diarrheic infections.
