From 2009 to 2021, the prevalence of chronic malnutrition among children under five years in Peru decreased from 23.8 percent to 11.5 percent. Stunting (low height for age), wasting (low weight for height), underweight (low weight for age), and micronutrient deficiencies or insufficiencies (a lack of essential vitamins and minerals) are all considered forms of undernutrition. It usually happens when a person hasn't eaten enough nutritious food or has been sick frequently or for a long time. As of 2022, the share of children worldwide under the age of five who were stunted amounted to approximately 22 percent.
