In 2022, there was a total of 13.8 million retail customers registered with electronic monetary institutions (EMI) digital wallets in Saudi Arabia. The largest single year increase was recorded between 2021 and 2022 when the total number of registered customers nearly doubled. Between 2018 and 2022, year-over-year growth continued to be higher than previous years.
