In 2021, the share of online fraud cases that included identity theft amounted to 4.5 percent. According to the People's Supreme Court, fraud was the most prevalent internet crime in China in 2021, accounting for around one-third of all cases. In the same year, the number of fraud cybercrime cases in China reached 103 thousand recorded cases.
