As of September 2023, the Gaza Electricity Distribution Corporation (GEDCO) reported that Gaza received a daily average of 120 megawatts of electricity supply through Israeli lines and 72 megawatts from the Gaza Power Plant. This left the Gaza Strip with a daily average deficit of 235 megawatts in their electricity demand. Before the outbreak of the Hamas-Israel war on October 7, 2023, the Gaza Strip was supplied with a daily average of 13 hours of electricity and 11 hours of no electricity supply.
