According to a study from November 2023, 49 percent of U.S. respondents did not care at all about the publication of the final new song featuring all four of the Beatles. Originally penned by John Lennon and left to wife Yoko Ono, John Lennon recorded a series of demos before his death. As the words "For Paul" were scribble on the cassette, his wife gave the tape to fellow Beatle Paul McCartney in 1994, who then recorded two new songs together with his bandmates using John's vocals from the tape. Both songs, "Free As a Bird" and "Real Love," became a top five hit in the UK. The final song was lost due to the quality of the tape until now. Enabled by AI, it was possible to better isolate John Lennon's vocals. The two remaining Beatles, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr recorded new parts for it while the late George Harrison features via guitar parts kept from a 1995 recording. The new song is called "Now and Then" and is described as the final new song by the Fab Four.
