According to a November 2023 survey carried out in the United States, about a quarter of moviegoers thought that there should be an intermission for movies of two hours or longer, and about the same share for movies shown in theaters exceeding three hours. In 2023, the average length of the ten highest-grossing movies at the domestic box office was 143 minutes, almost half an hour more than in 2020.
