Roughly 60 percent of the surveyed companies cited time-saving through operational efficiency as a benefit of automating cloud operations tasks in their workflow, making it the most notable use of the process. Benefits related to security and compliance, governance, reliability, and costs followed closely, seen by nearly half of the companies. Only one percent of the respondents denied achieving any benefit with the automation.

All participants had decision-making (budget and/or technology selection) responsibility for public cloud infrastructure investments in an IT operations or applications role in companies with more than 500 employees that had signifcantly invested in public cloud infrastructure.
