U.S. top Republican presidential candidates January 2024

With the 2024 Republican Primary season officially kicked off, Donald Trump remains the top candidate among Republicans and those leaning Republican. According to a January survey, 61 percent of respondents reported that they were enthusiastic at the thought of Trump receiving the 2024 presidential nomination. Additionally, 21 percent of Republicans and Independents who lean Republican said they would be satisfied with Trump being the Republican nominee.

On January 21, former candidate and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced his departure from the 2024 Republican presidential primary race, leaving only Donald Trump and former Governor of South Carolina and United States Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley competing for the nomination.
