In the financial year 2023, ICICI Lombard led the general insurance sector in India with a profit after tax of 17.29 billion Indian rupees. Following closely were Bajaj Allianz and The New India Assurance with profits after tax of 13.48 billion Indian rupees and 10.55 billion Indian rupees respectively. On the other hand, all the three public sector undertaking general insurers (United India, New India and Oriental Insurance) recorded loses after tax in the financial year 2023.
