Number of CBFC certifications granted India FY 2019-2025

Over 17,000 movies were certified by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) in India during the financial year 2024. This was a minor decrease over the previous year. To streamline and modernize the film certification process, the Indian government further amended the Cinematograph Act, 1952 in 2023 and subsequently the Cinematograph (Certification) Rules, 1983 in 2024.
