More than 18 thousand movies were certified by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) in India during the financial year 2023. It reflected the growing trend in film certifications within the country that resurged since having dipped drastically in the financial year 2021. While the CBFC attributed the decline to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, the reduction in the number of film certifications granted could be traced back to fiscal year 2020.
