The direct contribution of travel and tourism to Brussels' gross domestic product (GDP) was forecast to increase in 2022 compared to the first two years of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, while remaining below pre-pandemic levels. After dropping to under 2.5 billion euros in 2020, these industries' direct contribution to GDP in the city was expected to reach an estimated 3.8 billion euros in 2022.
