TWINT's transaction count in 2022 was higher than all the previous years combined, growing with nearly 80 percent compared to 2021. Similar to iDEAL in the Netherlands, TWINT is a local payment initiative that is developed and operated by a consortium of the country's largest banks. The Swiss method works as a mobile payment option on an A2A, or account-to-account, basis. It outranked Apple Pay as Switzerland's most used mobile payment method in 2023.
