As of 2022, the Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) offered a video assistant referee (VAR) in most matches in the national soccer tournaments. Specifically, there were 52 of 52 Africa Cup of Nation matches with VAR, while only 13 matches of the 61 games in the CAF Champions League (Club tournament) had VAR.
