Annual expenditure on outbound travel by Turkish residents fluctuated throughout the observed timeframe. In 2020, there was a sharp decrease in travel spending when the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic started. In 2023, Turkish tourists spent over seven billion U.S. dollars on international travel.
