In 2021, the management of meals accounted for the largest amount of time spent on housework per day by married couples with children aged under six years in Japan. The daily time spent on the management of meals differed greatly between husbands and wives, with wives spending an average of one hour and 25 minutes, compared with 14 minutes invested by husbands.
