As of 2022, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) distributed the most through the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON or CAN). That year, around 42.7 million U.S. dollars were distributed as prize money and to the hosting country as shares. Interclub tournaments followed, with about 22.54 million U.S. dollars. On the other hand, the amount distributed to youth and women's tournaments was only 500,000 U.S. dollars.
