In 2022, over 95 percent of women who gave birth in Latin America and the Caribbean were assisted by skilled and trained health professionals (nurses, midwives, or doctors). During the period depicted, the share of births assisted by specialized health personnel in Latin America and the Caribbean increased by around three percentage points. It was estimated that the share of births attended by skilled health personnel in the Americas between 2013 and 2022 reached 97 percent.
