Since 2021, the share of surveyed companies using cost management tools for cloud costs and budget provided by the cloud vendors has remained steady at approximately 76 percent. While the share of companies using spreadsheets or other manual methods decreased around two percent, the percentage using commercial or third party cloud cost management solutions was the one that increased the most, jumping from 28 percent in 2021 to 40 percent in 2023.

All participants had decision-making (budget and/or technology selection) responsibility for public cloud infrastructure investments in an IT operations or applications role in companies with more than 500 employees that had signifcantly invested in public cloud infrastructure.
