In the third quarter of 2023, Boston had the most office space converted or planned for coversion in the United States. The area that was converted into spaces with other use, such as multifamily, life sciences, and mixed use amounted to more than six million square feet. Second place went to Chicago, which had 5.5 million square feet of office conversions.
