Most respondents in all regions of Nigeria were willing to be vaccinated using the RTS,S malaria vaccine, according to a study conducted in 2023. On the other hand, 19 percent of the respondents in the South East geo-political zone refused to be vaccinated.

RTS,S/AS01 (RTS,S) is the world's first malaria vaccine and the first approved vaccine against a human parasitic disease. This vaccine decreases the odds of a child contracting malaria, including extreme, and life-threatening malaria, and it reduces child deaths. It is also the only malaria vaccine to be recommended and approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) to date.
