Between 2011 and 2021, there was an overall decrease of the share of population without health insurance in the Dominican Republic. The most marked decrease was recorded from 2011 to 2012, going from 51.2 percent to 45.9 percent of the population. By the end of the decade, the share of medically uninsured people in the country amounted to close to 29 percent. During the last year depicted, the population without medical insurance in Latin America was estimated at nearly 31 percent.
