Sleeping inside a mosquito treated net was the most popular malaria preventive measure for men and women in Nigeria, based on a study conducted in 2023, with 50 percent of men and 59 percent of women reporting using this measure. Spraying insecticide routinely came in second, with 41 percent of men and 41 percent of women reporting using this measure.

Malaria is a dangerous disease caused by a parasite that usually infects a certain type of mosquito, which in turn feeds on humans. In 2020, Nigeria registered some 21.6 million cases of malaria.
