Sleeping inside a mosquito-treated net was the most popular malaria preventive measure in Nigeria, according to a study conducted in 2023. Specifically, 54 percent of the respondents reported that they used this measure. Routinely spraying an insecticide and cleaning household surroundings came next, at 41 percent and 28 percent, respectively.
Malaria is a dangerous disease transmitted to humans by certain mosquitoes that bear the malaria parasite. In 2020, Nigeria registered some 21.6 million cases of malaria.
