A 2023 survey by Rakuten Insight on user-generated content (UGC) reported that the leading reason for consumers across all surveyed age groups to not engage with UGC in India was a lack of trust, especially among 48 percent of 35 to 44 year old respondents. Other major reasons included irrelevant content followed by a preference for ads by brands.
