Based on a study conducted in Nigeria in 2023, 44 percent of respondents between 18 and 35 years old reported fever with shivering as the most known malaria symptom. Body pain followed, with 32 percent of the respondents in the same age group considering it as the most known malaria symptom.
Malaria is a dangerous disease transmitted to humans by mosquitoes that bear the malaria parasite. In 2020, Nigeria registered some 21.6 million cases of malaria.
